PALLET WOOD
Pallet wood has been used to make a range of planting boxes, seed trays and compost containers. Taking apart a pallet might be hard work, but I get a lot of good wood from one pallet.
wall mounted planting boxes
A range of simple wall mounted boxes made good use of pallet wood. Could be used on balconies, small gardens and patios.
Fully dimensioned plans are available on Etsy:paulbeaty for you to make your own. I have also made a short video demonstrating an easy way to take apart a pallet so that you can keep most of the planks in one piece.
seed trays
Left over pallet wood, cut into 50 mm wide 10mm thick planks can then be used to make small boxes that are great for seed trays. The wood lasts a surprisingly long time. Most pallets have been heat treated to remove any infections and are therefore less prone to rot.
Large and small compost containers
Larger boxes made from full size planks of pallet wood can be used for compost containers, leaf stores or raised planting beds.
pallet wood creations
There is no limited to what can be made from pallet wood. Shelves for a craft stall, community notice board, book share box…..etc.
